Dolgopyat's ethnic background

[edit]

Both the athlete's parents in many interviews at least in two languages repeatedly state that the father is Jewish (on both sides) and the mother isn't:

[1] “I’m not Jewish,” said Angela Dolgopyat, who immigrated to Israel in 2009 along with her Jewish husband and their son, who was 12 at the time. “But on his father’s side, everyone is Jewish.”

[2] “Dolgopyat's father Oleg told AFP he moved to Israel from Ukraine when Artem was 12 because "I'm Jewish" and because the boy "needed something more advanced" in terms of training. His mother said she thought about converting to Judaism when she arrived in Israel but "there was no time".”

[3] Artem’s father is Jewish, she [the mother] said.

[4] At age 12, he [Artem] said, his father, Oleg, told him that the entire family was moving to Israel. “I knew we were Jewish, but we didn’t celebrate the holidays, and until that moment I hadn’t even heard of Israel,” he admitted.

One particular user from various anonymous accounts and with various derogatory ad hominem comments misrepresents the athlete's extraction and removes any sources/citations to the contrary. --Simulacrum (talk) 02:27, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Editor deleting RS-supported relevant information

[edit]

An editor is deleting RS-supported relevant and encyclopedic information. On baseless assertions that the text is neither. We determine such matters -- the same as with article notability - by coverage in RSs. Not in whether a lone editor has a subjective IDONTLIKEIT attitude. The indicated deletions are not appropriate.

Plus, the editor seems to miss that there is information in text that may also be reflected in the infobox, etc. That is not redundancy here. Just as to have the person's place of birth and date of birth and medals reflected in both is not redundancy. The most important presentation is the text. And infobox and the like may indeed properly present the same information - this is of course seen across the project. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:6465:45C6:F6E9:2A9D (talk) 19:06, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone help speak to this editor?

[edit]

He seems to be intent on disrupting the page with deletions such as these. Habitual in this editor's case. I'm sure he has good faith, and is just being disruptive fore some other reason, but it's not appropriate.
