"Racist historians"?

" (French).....were decisively defeated by the military superiority of the Armée Indigène, though racist historians unwilling to accept this stunning fact claimed it was because of an outbreak of yellow fever."

What does that mean? The sources to Encyclopedia Britannica don't match up either. Some random IP added that line in without putting in their own sources that would imply that the historians, that pushed the narrative that French forces was weakened by yellow fever, were "racist". 89.177.132.110 (talk) 16:44, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
