Word

[edit]

Is filmic a word? 24.91.43.225 05:17, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

From dictonary.com: "Of, relating to, or characteristic of movies; cinematic.". RickK 05:41, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
Well wouldn't cinematic be a better word choice? Especially since it's follwed by "Indian film". 24.91.43.225 01:38, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Apu connection source?

[edit]

Is there a source proving the Simpsons' Apu was named after the Apu Trilogy?

The trivia comes from List of The Simpsons name origins, which cites [1] as the reference, which in turn claims it is stated in some DVD. --euyyn 22:12, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Matt Groening states this, and is quite complimentary to the Trilogy, in the commentary for episode 7x23 - Much Apu about Nothing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.76.237.216 (talk) 20:57, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Plot?

[edit]

Hasn't anybody seen the films so we can add a Plot/Summary section which tells what are them about? --euyyn 22:33, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The Apu Trilogy.jpg

[edit]

Image:The Apu Trilogy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:24, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be renamed to Apu (film series) to bring it inline with the naming convention pertaining to film series. Let's discuss. - LA @ 10:52, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Truffaut

[edit]

At one point this article said Truffaut hated Pather Panchali. Later, however, it listed Truffaut as an admirer of Ray's. The link on the second claim led to an article that says nothing to support such assertions. As such, I removed Truffaut's name from the list of admirers until someone can come up with a cite that actually makes sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.64.4.116 (talk) 05:23, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"greatest trilogy every made"

[edit]

Significant claims like this need really good sourcing. The source given in the edit is from The Independent is by their "Chief Culture Reporter" and "Combat Sports Correspondent". The last alone makes this questionable. Ideally, the source would be from a well-known critic or film historian. The edit is presented in Wikipedia's voice with no attribution. Having that in the lead with this source is WP:UNDUE for that source. Courtesy ping for the editor, @Themodifie7:. Ravensfire (talk) 21:35, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
