Apu Nahasapeemapetilan → Apu Nahasapeemapetilon – Undiscussed move: looking at [1] alone, it would appear that the new article title has no results on page 1 alone. I don't think that was ever moved to the new title in the first place. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:25, 22 September 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. ‡ Night Watch ω (talk) 22:40, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Speedy move. The character's last name is overwhelmingly spelled Nahasapeemapetilon, and the original move was undiscussed. O.N.R. (talk) 00:35, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- And the undiscussed move was only three weeks ago, so there should be no presumption of consensus for the current title. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:43, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
- Comment. I did some looking for in-universe spellings and the best I could find is from S11E07, "Eight Misbehavin" with a newspaper headline (which they did intentionally have misspellings in as jokes but this doesn't feel like that) on Frinkiac: NAHASAPEEMAPETILAN-TASTIC (there's also signing a contract but that is harder to read). There is a tiny, small chance that the original intended spelling was "-lan"... but yeah, effectively all sources uses the "-lon" spelling. Skynxnex (talk) 20:41, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- I have found out that "Nahasapeemapetilon" is an anagram of "Pahasanee Mapetilon", which appears to be the name of Jeff Martin's classmate[2]. The newly modified spelling from sources Skynxnex provided on Talk:The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilans is therefore not an anagram since there are no o's there. That is certainly one way of naming certain characters when they are first introduced. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 09:19, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- This BBC article and this HuffPost article and this NPR article and this Television Academy interview article and this Washington Post article and this AVclub article and this E-Online article all use "Nahasapeemapetilon". I did not choose those selectively; I've just been looking through the lists of references for The Problem with Apu and this article. I haven't found any yet that use the other spelling. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:43, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
- What about Apu (The Simpsons)? — BarrelProof (talk) 22:15, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- Certainly a good point to consider if it turns out both spelling varieties are equally known to many people. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 09:21, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- I think most people are not aware of his last name at all and I suspect it has seldom been mentioned in the show. When someone decided to talk about him in the title of a critical documentary film, they named it The Problem with Apu, not The Problem with Apu Nahasapeemapetil*n. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:31, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- An excellent point to consider as well as my earlier response. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:58, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

- There was an RM that opposed Apu Nahasapeemapetilon -> Apu (The Simpsons) back in 2012 here. I'm not a major fan of it, but if there really is a spelling disagreement it's probably the best option. Nohomersryan (talk) 22:06, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

- Speedy move per above. This was undiscussed and clearly isn't uncontroversial. It should simply be reverted. Nohomersryan (talk) 22:06, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- Move. I agree that it isn't uncontroversial so it should be moved back to where it was, for now. I also am not a huge of of just Apu (The Simpsons) since almost all Simpsons characters who have articles who have last names mentioned in the show, include last names. I somewhat disagree with the idea that his last name is unknown. I welcome any future MR discussions if future evidence presents itself! Skynxnex (talk) 22:20, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, I didn't say his last name is unknown – only that most people aren't aware of it. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:42, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- Apologies. I mis-worded it and really meant that I think it's well-known enough to probably be part of the page title, similar to Nelson Muntz. Skynxnex (talk) 23:13, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
