Title (and inclusion of insects)

Do we perhaps need to tweak the title to allow the article to cover control of non-animal, e.g. insect populations (especially since ticks are mentioned under 'Examples')?--TyrS (talk) 04:57, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Tangipahoa Parish example

I wouldn't regard euthanasia for disease control in an animal shelter as an example of population control, as population control is generally aimed at dealing with overpopulation, rather than being a method of disease containment and the prevention of suffering. I would guess that this example is used here as a means of publicizing a controversial episode of disease containment within the animal shelter industry.
