I have removed the following passage:

Telegdi supported Waterloo resident Helmut Oberlander against attempts by the federal government to revoke his citizenship for having lied in his immigration application about his wartime activities. Oberlander had been an intepreter for a Nazi killing unit during World War II [1]. B'nai Brith criticized Telegdi for his position arguing that "Oberlander was an essential cog in the machine of death," explaining that the role of interpreters in mobile killing units was to "(go) into a place and (say), ‘Where are the Jews,’ and they’d round up the Jews and kill them"[2].

I have discovered tha Telegdi never advocated in favour of Helmut Oberlander as such: he rather opposed the process under which his citizenship was revoked (much as he had done a few years earlier). Telegdi made a point of specifying that he was not actually defending or supporting Oberlander as such. If we are to return this passage, we should provide the full context.
