February 2008

[edit]

how come the original piece i wrote about Anaesthetic Technicians has been completly deleted?! i mean, you could have left some data i put on there?!

Bad pictures and information, Anesthetic technicians exist globally, not just in New Zealand and Australia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.195.242 (talk) 05:49, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the information on ATs in Australia as they were misleading comments including a statement that ASAPO went into administration over legal battles with VPNG. ASAPO have never had legal battles with VPNG and has never gone into administration. There has also been a standardised qualification for Anaesthetic Technicians since 2002 to increase employabililty in other states. Previously states had their own courses, which after the 2000 review contained the same main criteria which has been reflected in the national qualification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.86.81.20 (talk) 22:05, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anaesthetic technicians in Qld

[edit]

There is some misleading information regarding the hospitals which employ anaesthetic technicians in Qld.

Townsville general hospital is listed as a potential employer, this is incorrect, none of the facillities in Tonsville will even look at employing an anaesthetic technician unless you are also a nurse, then they will look at employing you under the nursing stream. if you are not a nurse they wont even talk to you.

Mackay is also listed as a potential employer, this is further from the truth than Townsville. Mackay hospitals have in the past employed Anaesthetic technicians, however the nursing management went to extreme methods of bullying, deformation of charachter and lying to drive these technicians out of the area. Mackay hospitals are run by nurses who hate technicians so count that area out completely. 121.222.54.223 (talk) 01:43, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mackay do employ Anaesthetic Technicians. 30 Private & 13 Public facilities in Qld employ Anaesthetic Technicians. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.169.255.226 (talk) 02:09, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate job description/duties

[edit]

Almost everything on this article page is inaccurate, except for subsection "American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians."

This page is describing anesthesia providers, the techs do not do any clinical duties but they do assist in certain anesthesia procedures, equipment setup, room turnovers/machine checks, restocking supplies, etc.

They're just not the ones who do things like pushing drugs or running infusion pumps (i.e., like this article mentions) and they're certainly not resuscitating patients. The pally (talk) 23:53, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regional/country differences apply. What you have described is what we expect our students or new grads to do unsupervised. Sounds like ATs in your location are under utilised. ATs in some jurisdictions provide monitored sedation & recover patients.
Being part of resuscitation teams is a routine part of the role & if first to arrive will commence advanced life support. 2001:8003:712E:E800:3C1F:D107:1581:DE8F (talk) 13:06, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
