Move?
[edit]Should this article be moved to Alpha-thalassemia X-Linked Intellectual Disability Syndrome? Or at least a redirect from there to here. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:43, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- @ONUnicorn: I agree with moving this article there. The article doesn't seem to actually mention the title at all and instead refers to it as that. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:47, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Maybe ATR-X Syndrome would be better since it's a shortened title and more easily searchable? Or do we prefer to not use abbreviations in titles? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:02, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- It was changed in the article on January 6 with this edit. So that's a recent change. Google searches provide more hits for retardation (173,000) than for intellectual disability (66,000), but the usefulness of that as a metric is extremely limited, and there's duplication in the results. Searching google scholar also shows more hits for retardation (4,820) than for intellectual disability (1,630), but a cursory scan of those results shows the hits for retardation are mostly older and the hits for intellectual disability are mostly more recent. That inclines me towards moving it. That said, I have asked on the talk page for Wikiproject medicine for more knowledgeable editors to weigh in, as this is not my field of expertise. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:37, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- MeSH solves the problem by calling it "ATR-X syndrome". My PubMed search shows that is more popular than "Alpha-thalassemia X-linked" but less popular than "Alpha-thalassemia mental".
- Suggested ICD codes include ICD-10 Q87 ("Other specified congenital malformation syndromes affecting multiple systems") and ICD-11 LD90 ("Conditions with disorders of intellectual development as a relevant clinical feature"), or D56.0 for the broader Alpha thalassaemia (not specifically this type). Since there seems to be no separate code number for this, the usual rule of following the ICD name won't work. WhatamIdoing (talk) 16:17, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Alpha-thalassemia mental retardation syndrome → ATR-X syndrome – appears to be more the COMMONNAME and much more CONCISE. Also see the above discussion to find more reasons to rename this article. P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 14:11, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- As with my response above, I support the move. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:13, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
