Opening statement
[edit]In reviews I conduct, I may make small copyedits. These will only be limited to spelling and punctuation (removal of double spaces and such). I will only make substantive edits that change the flow and structure of the prose if I previously suggested and it is necessary. For replying to Reviewer comment, please use Done, Fixed, Added, Not done, Doing..., or Removed, followed by any comment you'd like to make. I will be crossing out my comments as they are redressed, and only mine. A detailed, section-by-section review will follow. —♠Vami_IV†♠ 20:25, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Consider:U.S. authorities were also seeking forfeiture of Nieto González's properties.
the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Texas Department of Public Safety, Cameron County District Attorney's Office, the Cameron County Sheriff's Office, the Willacy County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas police departments of San Benito, Harlingen, Port Isabel, and Brownsville, across the border from Matamoros.
Every "the" after "the IRS" should be removed.
- I am assuming we once again don't have much to show for Briones Ruiz's criminal career because that information is locked up in Mexico City.
- Yes. The Mexican government tends to be very secretive of criminal investigations against cartel members and usually only releases details once suspects are arrested/convicted. I haven't been able to find any mention of Briones Ruiz's organized crime involvement prior to his U.S. indictment. Makes me think Mexican authorities may have been unaware of him until the U.S. brought it to their attention (this happens often since the threshold for evidence that can be used in a courtroom is different in both countries).
The drugs were distributed in U.S. states of Texas and Tennessee.
Needs a "the" before "U.S. states".
