Number of teams

[edit]

Look you guys, it's 27 teams this time!! An Iran team was disqualified remember? 28 - 1 = 27. Stop editting it back. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.63.37.182 (talkcontribs) 12:22, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I mentioned in the edit history when I reverted it, there will be 28 teams. It was 29 before the disqualification. The previous champion receives an automatic bye until after the group stage. 28 + 1 - 1 = 28. -- Chuq 01:40, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Format

[edit]

Started expanding format to use Template:footballbox for matches. I believe this improves the quality of the article and the amount of relvant information (scorers, etc). I've done Group E first and plan to get through the whole article in time (anyone who wants to get other groups done, please go ahead). BTW, question marks are not being carried over as they are unneccessary - the article communicates results and future fixtures ie the information isn't missing, it just doesn't exist yet.

Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma

[edit]

In group G, the Korean team is actually called Seongname Ilhwa Chunma. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.63.37.182 (talkcontribs) 10:39, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, usually more abbreviated versions are used in the tables, and the shorter forms are sometimes hard to work out if you don't know what the words mean! As an example the A-League site (Australian) refers to them as "Seongnam", "Seongnam Chunma" or "Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma" depending on how much space there is in the list. (I guess the same as Adelaide could be "Adelaide United FC", "Adelaide United" or "Adelaide".) I'll change all mentions of the team from "Ilhwa Chunma" to "Seongnam Chunma" for now. -- Chuq (talk) 00:58, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on - just noticed the article itself is called "Ilhwa Chunma"! I'll hold off on changing any references for now. -- Chuq (talk) 00:59, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article has recently had a name change to Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma - the full name of the club. Names here were also edited about the same time to Seongnam Ilhwa (a redirect). As best I can tell, the parts of the name are (place) (backing company) (mascot) similar to other K-League clubs like Suwon Samsung Bluewings. Leaving it as Seongnam Ilhwa seems the most accurate short name. - Tomperc 23:43, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Top goalscorer

[edit]

Are you sure that Mota is top goalscorer?! I clearly remember that Seyyed Mehdi Seyyed Salehi won the Golden boot! I'm sure! I think he was tied with Robson Ponte with 5 gls. Amirreza talk 13:36, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
