The separate stub 8th Illinois Infantry Regiment (3 Months) should be merged here. In my view, there is no need to separate out the two eras of the regiment based on the two enlistment terms. The initial history and activities of the regiment in 1861 with its 3-month enlistees can and should be covered here. In any case, the current situation is untenable, as this page is currently the primary topic, but there is no hatnote to the 3 month article. Also, the disambiguation page 8th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment was never moved when these pages were moved to their current titles; this disambiguation page will become unnecessary once the pages are merged and hatnotes updated.
