Name change
[edit]I'm hereby requesting this page be transferred to the title of 3rd Signal Regiment (United Kingdom) to keep it consistent with the other signal regiment pages made and coming. Leaving a redirect would be the best option. But all the page names should be consistent. Tagging @Dormskirk and @SmartyPants22. J-Man11 (talk) 01:52, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- OK with me. Dormskirk (talk) 09:46, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- This should not have been done. Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves (talk) 19:30, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Incorrect name
[edit]The regiment is not named "3rd Signal Regiment" it is 3 (UK) Division Signal Regiment, https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/corps-regiments-and-units/royal-corps-of-signals/3-uk-division-signal-regiment/ ,https://www.facebook.com/RSIGNALS/videos/3-uk-div-sig-regt-certa-cito-100/449899932611304/ and is referred to as '3 Div'. User:Dormskirk can you change? Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves (talk) 19:24, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- We need consistency between articles and therefore there may well be different views on this. You should follow Wikipedia:Requested moves/Controversial. Dormskirk (talk) 21:43, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- The 3rd Signal Regiment doesnt exist, it's 3 (UK) Division Signal Regiment / 3 Div Signal Regt. https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search/-/charity-details/5103529/contact-information Like 18 (UKSF) Signals Regiment and 216 (Parachute) Signal Squadron. There has never been any regiment called "3rd Signal Regiment". This isn't controversial and there cannot be any other view on this as it isn't subjective, it has never been referred to or described as "3rd Signal Regiment". It is a pretty famous regiment in the Army and is known as and definitely referred to as 3 Division Signal Regiment
- Also the now banned user that changed the name previously "J-Man11/Coldstreamer20" has done this sort of thing on a lot of pages from looking at his talk page. Noticed this on his talk page; "In November 2021, you moved "18 (UKSF) Signal Regiment" to 18th Signal Regiment (United Kingdom). In the edit comment you wrote "As per discussion on talk page, titles being streamlined." There is no discussion on the article's talk page about moving the article. Why did you move the article changing its sourced designation from "18 (UKSF) Signal Regiment" to "18th Signal Regiment"?" Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves (talk) 23:11, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- As I have already explained we need some consistency in article names. That applies 18th Signal Regiment as much as 3rd Signal Regiment. Dormskirk (talk) 23:16, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Requested move 18 June 2023
