In 1990 the 3rd Ordnance Battalion had the mission of removing 110,000 chemical projectiles (8" and 155mm nerve agent rounds) from Germany during Operation Steel Box. Wrong Operation Steel Box was the U.S. Navy part, Operation Golden Python was the movements by Vehicles of the Chemical Munitions from Site 59 Clausen to the Rail at Rhine Ordnance Barracks Vogelweh Kaiserslautern the name Golden Python was chosen because of the winding roads from Site 59 to Rhine Ordnance Barracks, 41st Ordnance Company did the blocking and bracing of the Chemical Munitions in the Railcars, due to their Decades of Experience doing that with Conventional High Explosives Munitions. The U.S. Navy Ships would as Operation Steel Box (the Steel Boxes being the Hulls of the Ships) transport the Chemical Munitions from Northern Germany Ports to mostly Johnston Atoll (New Chemical Munitions Incineration Facility) some went to Dugway Proving Grounds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.151.232.200 (talk) 15:43, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- Kinda of hard to pick out the issues from all your text. Bits of what you are looking for are in 59th Ordnance Brigade. 3rd Ord was not renamed. After it was transferred to the 32nd AADCOM, Special Troops Battalion was created and some units transferred. When 3rd Ord returned to the 59th, STB was disbanded. --21lima (talk) 11:40, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
