Assessment comments
[edit]I think that the current start class assessment is appropriate due to:
- All the references are to semi-reliable websites. Given the huge literature on the German Army of World War II and its campaigns, it should be possible to replace most, or all, of these with references to books
- The coverage of the division's service is sketchy and focused mainly on the corps' and armies it was part of and who its commanders were, and not on what it actually did - this presumably reflects the sources consulted.
- The claim that "The division continued to attack Leningrad until the end of the siege in January 1944" is probably an over-statement. The Germans gave up on trying to capture Leningrad in 1942, and were on the defensive thereafter.
- The use of German terms without translation is excessive. For instance, what's a 'General der Gebirgstruppen', 'Aufklärungs-Abteilung' or 'Beobachtungs-Abteilung'? Terms with direct English translations should be translated (for instance 'Infanterie-Regiment' to 'Infantry Regiment' and 'Pionier-Bataillon' to 'Pioneer Battalion' - I suspect that all of the unit names could be translated). Assessment for 2013
[edit]I believe the article is still a start class:
- Intro does not meet B3 criteria and lacks explanation of article
- Missing citations in the second paragraph of the French section fails B1
- Grammar is sketchy at points and article can be hard to follow
- Well covered however and much improved over 2011 --Molestash (talk) 17:46, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
