BDS is a specific organised movement, and isn't the same thing as all boycotting of things related to Israel. For example, the boycotts of Starbucks were spontaneous and not related to any organised BDS group. The article as written is unclear as to the distinction between these two things. Ideally the section would be divided between BDS boycotts and spontaneous boycotts. 2001:8003:266B:E700:E164:252B:5BCC:C44C (talk) 02:50, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've merged content from 2024 Beyoğlu protests & 2024 Gazi University protests in obedience to AfD decision (see above), and tried to clean both up a little bit, but they are both getting probably more coverage than they deserve in comparison to other protests on the page, w/re. to length v. notability. On one of the AfD discussions, the idea of a Israel–Hamas war protests in Turkey subpage was raised, and this could be a good idea, IMO. More material from the original merged articles might be able to be used there, where as I trimmed quite a bit. I don't have the requisite knowledge about the region or understanding of the sources to do that level of synthesis though, so I figured I'd just raise the point here for anyone interested/able. —penultimate_supper 🚀 (talk • contribs) 00:25, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On 24 October 2024, I edited the infobox to reflect the titles of the actual articles that were being linked to. This edit was reverted by User:דור פוזנר with the edit summary "Undid revision 1253187104 by JasonMacker (talk) Attribution." this is not an appropriate edit summary for reverting my edit, as I have no idea what specifically they are objecting to here. I want an actual explanation for why my edit was reverted. That's what this talk page is for. To go into further detail:
Israel and apartheid is the former title of an article that is currently a redirect to Israeli apartheid. The display text that they reverted to is "Accusations of Israeli apartheid" which is not in line with the rest of the items in the infobox. For example, another item in the infobox is "Gaza humanitarian crisis (2023–present)" even though, as explained in that very article, a COGAT representative has denied there was a famine in Gaza. Users editing that page decided the article's title should be "Gaza humanitarian crisis" and not "Allegations/accusations of Gaza humanitarian crisis." The same logic applies to the Israeli apartheid article and the Zionism as settler colonialism article. I see no reason to keep the "Accusations of..." wording in the infobox when the articles that are being linked do not use that wording. As for Gaza genocide, the current wording in the infobox is "[[Allegations of genocide in the 2023 Israeli attack on Gaza|Allegations of genocide by Israel]]." Again, "Allegations of genocide in the 2023 Israeli attack on Gaza" is not a standalone article, but a redirect to Gaza genocide. In addition, the display text of "allegations of genocide by Israel" is ambiguous wording. Is this Israel making allegations of genocide?
