The Lead
[edit]Hello, the reference to Ukraine receiving HIMARS and 'so' began the attacks on Crimea is nonsense. Crimea is out of range of HIMARS but it says 'drones' etc anyway. This article has a number of problems. Can someone make sense of it please? Thelisteninghand (talk) 21:58, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- Removed the segment about HIMARS as it is unnecessary to make the point in the lead (and confusing, as we don't have confirmation that it was used at Crimea). It was also just written in an awkward way. 166.196.75.8 (talk) 02:04, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks - I've expanded the bridge attack entry. Are we happy stating all these as 'air and missile' - the bridge probably neither and the airbase is 'mysterious'. Maybe 'a series of explosions' is more neutral? Thelisteninghand (talk) 19:05, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
Name
[edit]This article will need a new name as the war is most certainly looking like entering into 2023. --Aaron106 (talk) 15:30, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. Many articles about the war start '2022' which presents problems. I've mentioned it elsewhere but I think everything will get renamed at some point.Thelisteninghand (talk) 19:08, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- WP:Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. We can rename it if required. Dawsongfg (talk) 23:10, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done. HappyWith (talk) 17:25, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Timeline
[edit]I'm adding in details slowly. If anyone with Ukrainian would like to check the reference about "drones have been tested.." and also the detailed list of targeted weapons that occurs under the 16th August Dzhankoi explosions - slightly weird entry, needs explaining imo.Thelisteninghand (talk) 21:10, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Added Ukrainian media satellite images of frigate being towed, attack on Admiral Makarov. More sources needed.Thelisteninghand (talk) 23:45, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

USV attack on Sevastopol
[edit]Perhaps that should be made a separate article, as individual battles are often separate articles and I don’t see any specific reasons it leans more toward being part of a larger battle than being a battle in its own right. Of course it should still be mentioned here with a link to the new article as it is still an “attack on Crimea” (ie “attacks on Crimea” being the larger campaign the battle is a part of.)

- I agree. There is a lot of sources discussing this attack. Super Ψ Dro 12:09, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, this attack has enough coverage to have a article of its own. SnoopyBird (talk) 16:51, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, this is the only substantial military action on Russian forces in Crimea, the rest are mostly sabotage an attacks on critical infrastructure.--Darius (talk) 05:11, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Edit: I see the proposal for the new article’s name is “ 2022 drone attack on Sevastopol”, but given there have been more than one aerial drone attack on Sevastopol, I think there needs to be something to differentiate this attack from those, and since this was the only USV attack on Sevastopol to date, I think swapping “drone” for “USV” in the articles name is advisable.
- Best option would then seem to be Drone attack on the Sevastopol Naval Base to me. I think this one is unambiguous. Super Ψ Dro 17:07, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- The article now exists as 2022 drone attack on the Sevastopol Naval Base. Super Ψ Dro 07:38, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. 197.234.165.147 (talk) 17:23, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Crimea attacks (2022–present) → Attacks in Crimea (2022–present) – It’s the grammatically correct form. WikipedianRevolutionary (talk) 13:57, 17 July 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Adumbrativus (talk) 02:44, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- Both are grammatically correct: the first an attributive noun, the second a derived adjective. There is nuanced difference in meaning: the first is something of or pertaining to Crimea, the place, the second could also refer to something Crimean in character. But either seems acceptable for this subject. I’m not objecting, but I don’t see a compelling argument for the change. —Michael Z. 17:06, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose not an improvement in my opinion. I'd rather keep Crimea as a noun. I could support Attacks in Crimea (2022–present) or similar. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 08:13, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
- Your other version seems better… WikipedianRevolutionary (talk) 12:20, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
- Crimean attacks (2022–present) may also work. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:36, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- Confusingly enough, Crimean attacks (2022–present) is what everyone else was discussing; WikipedianRevolutionary changed it with their latest comment. jlwoodwa (talk) 04:53, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- I’ve changed my mind and Attacks in Crimea (2022–present) would be better. WikipedianRevolutionary (talk) 06:26, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
