Requested move 22 December 2018
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
Moved as proposed. After extended time for discussion, there is consensus for a move away from the current title. Some variations have been proposed for the target, and legitimate questions have been made about whether related articles should be moved, but the only clear consensus in this discussion, at this time, relates to the nominated titles. bd2412 T 21:18, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- 2019 ITF Women's Circuit → 2019 ITF Women's World Tennis Tour
- 2019 ITF Women's Circuit (January–March) → 2019 ITF Women's World Tennis Tour (January–March)
- 2019 ITF Men's Circuit → 2019 ITF Men's World Tennis Tour
- 2019 ITF Men's Circuit (January–March) → 2019 ITF Men's World Tennis Tour (January–March)
– Obviously the tour organized by the ITF has a new name from 2019 onward. I think is best, encyclopedically speaking, to use this new name and also make the corresponding renaming of particular events. Gabinho>:) 20:49, 22 December 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 12:46, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
- I was also thinking this when I was creating the pages, but continued with the old names as is was much easier. Not sure about it though! Keroks (talk) 10:22, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment I've merged the 4 RMs in to this page as the pages are all related to each other. I'll take a closer look at how sources are treating the renamed events later. Iffy★Chat -- 12:04, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Support as the few sources I found (e.g. [1]) seem to use the new name for 2019 events. I don't have a strong opinion on whether the parent articles should be moved, probably best to leave them where they are for now. Iffy★Chat -- 19:40, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment. The parent article remains at ITF Women's Circuit. Dekimasuよ! 21:41, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- Weak support just because I'm uneasy about ITF in the title with no other mention of tennis, it seems borderline recognisable at best considering the DAB at ITF has eleven entries including International Taekwon-Do Federation. But ITF circuit seems unambiguous, perhaps that saves it. Andrewa (talk) 06:05, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
- Relisting note: Dekimasu's comment needs further discussion c.f. whether to incorporate the parent article into this RM. SITH (talk) 12:46, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment Should it not be the case that there should be two separate pages for this year – one for professional-level ITF tournaments (25k and above), and one for 'transition tour' events at 15k level? Since to my understanding, they are separate tours/tiers in the tennis pyramid now? Dalek194 (talk) 12:36, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment @Dalek194: I don't think thats the best idea, they are still grouped together on the ITF website, also where would you put the 25k mens tournaments which offer both ATP and ITF ranking points? There is also the matter of what to name them, it will just get way too confusing for readers. Keroks (talk) 14:53, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- Support I'm supporting the changes now as I think since the ITF has completely rebranded the circuit, we need to stop labelling them by the old names. Also just found on this page on the ITF website that terms such as 'Pro Circuit' and 'Futures' should no longer be used as labels. I reckon changing the pages to 'ITF Women's World Tennis Tour' and 'ITF Men's World Tennis Tour' is a good fit. Not sure what to do with the parent articles, templates and all that, but that can gradually be changed. Keroks (talk) 04:31, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Also if the pages do get moved, will the name be 'Women's ITF World Tennis Tour' or 'ITF Women's World Tennis Tour'. I'm just looking on the preliminary version of the rules and regulations for the tour and they have it listed as Women's/Men's in front. Keroks (talk) 04:35, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
