Rule Changes

[edit]

I notice that there is no mention of the video review changes being implemented this year. Is it appropriate for this page, or is it mentioned elsewhere?Juve2000 (talk) 23:39, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Milestone section

[edit]

IMHO, the milestone section is bloated. Perhaps we should up the bar for significant entries? 500th goal, 1,000th assist, 1,000th game, 300th win (goalies), 500th win (coaches), etc etc. GoodDay (talk) 14:33, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. If you assume an even distribution of games played, in an 82-game schedule 82% of players will have played some multiple of '100th' game by the end of the season, so the Milestone section will be listing 82% of all current NHL players. How about implementing a "Milestone" section in every team's season page instead?Juve2000 (talk) 18:22, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I asked the same question back in February 2019 at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Archive73#"Major milestones reached" section in NHL season pages. In addition, GoodDay has asked about it in October 2019 at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Archive74#Milestones.
@Juve2000: The "Milestones" sections have been part of the teams' season pages for a long time. However, there is not much interest to edit those pages and I do not have the time anymore to maintain the quality there. Therefore, many team's pages lack those sections with the addition of transactions and/or draft picks. To put it simply – the 2019–20 teams' season pages are in a horrible situation quality-wise. – Sabbatino (talk) 06:40, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We really need to do something with the "Major milestones reached" section, because it is already excessively long and has always been subject to WP:NOTSTATS. – Sabbatino (talk) 16:48, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see the section has gotten silly again & the same is beginning to happen over at 2020–21 NHL season as well. GoodDay (talk) 03:44, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please format the standings the proper way, how it is on the website? You omitted the most important stat: POINTS

[edit]

Why is points not listed in the standings?

Also, can you add a section that explains if a team had a chance at the playoffs based on historical precedent?

For example, Buffalo was eliminated being only 13 points out, while having a possible 24 points left to earn. Can you please list instances where teams were 13 points out with 12 games left, where they still made the playoffs despite the odds? It would add a whole lot of context to this situation.

Thanx. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1702:3A0:4940:4570:137E:FD0:E4AF (talk) 22:13, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The table is limited by the current coding of the Module:Sports table template. There is very low priority to modify it just for this single NHL season, since it does not affect the other seasons of other sports leagues around the world. Zzyzx11 (talk) 01:42, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
