Negros Oriental NOT Occidental

[edit]

I believe the header / title should be changed to Negros Oriental and not Occidental — Preceding unsigned comment added by 111.92.240.242 (talk) 03:57, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moved, but it's a close call. I'd prefer 2012 Negros earthquake or even 2012 Visayas earthquake. –HTD 04:00, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

no details on number of casualties ?

[edit]

BBC report says

At 17:00 local time, the Office of Civil Defence put the number of dead at 21 people, with 71 others reported missing and 52 injured.

The death toll includes two children, according to the government's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

One local report on Monday put the number of dead at 43, including many people killed in a landslide in the badly-hit coastal area of Guihulngan.

But this report has not yet been confirmed by the central authorities. Telecommunications have been cut in many areas.

More information [here] regarding evacuation numbers, and break down of the casualties by region - which puts the total at 26 dead, with links to the the primary sources.

Biggest earthquake of the year

[edit]

Removed the phrase " and is considered as the biggest earthquake of the year." Not only is this badly written, it does not specify much. Biggest earthquake for where? The Philippines? The Pacific? The globe? 63.115.56.33 (talk) 17:42, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Error in sentence

[edit]

No time here to figure out what is meant, but the first sentence beyond the introduction at the present moment makes no sense.Julzes (talk) 21:55, 9 February 2012 (UTC) Okay. 9.0 has been changed to 5.9. If it is okay by wikipedia standards to remove this section, then somebody may feel free to do so. Not sure.Julzes (talk) 22:33, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2012 Visayas earthquake2012 Negros earthquake – Majority of the sources used "Negros" when referring the quake, instead of "Visayas". PHIVOLCS in their FB post even used the much precise name "2012 Negros Oriental earthquake". Addition: in their article about the quake, PHIVOLCS used 2012 Negros Oriental earthquake. Perhaps this would be another option, or use the neutral title "2012 Negros earthquake". JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 11:17, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
