- Sort've, it was supposed to happen on january 13, but was canceled. so not sure where to go on a deletion tag.Sweat1nce (talk) 22:56, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
IMO this article should be deleted or either updated when the drill takes place. Anybody know when that could be? Or was it totally canceled(the article says it was postponed). ArticunoWebon (talk) 11:00, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Proposed Edits
[edit]My additions will include accurate troop counts, changing the title to Austere Challenge 2012, units involved in the exercise, main objectives and training events done during the duration of the challenge. I will also be lessening the emphasis on the tensions with Iran because this is a myth and inaccurate reason for delays. I will also include the real reason for delays; basically planning a large scale exercise takes a lot of logistics and cooperation of different command structures, also the rotation of deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq delayed several American units who were participating in the challenge. This is what I need to do to complete the goal of making a more informative and better structure Wikipedia article for the online community. Proposed addition that will head the article as a summary can be found below.
Austere Challenge 2012 ran October 2012 to November 2012 and was conducted as an agreement between the IDF and USEUCOM to hold bi-lateral training exercises on a regular basis. The Challenge was not conducted in response to any current tensions in the region, the exercise was for the preparation for the defense of Israeli soil by both US and the IDF. The main objective of the challenge was to build a strong proficiency in air defense systems and improve interoperability between Israeli Defense Forces and USEUCOM. The exercise involved 3,500 US personnel from 5th Battalion 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment and 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command. The Challenge also included 1,000 IDF soldiers drawn from the Israeli Air Defense Command and Israel Artillery Corps.
