Rename
[edit]I think the page should be renamed to 2010 Pratapgarh stampede. That's where the accident has happened. UP is the biggest state in India and terming it with state name would cause confusion. --GPPande 14:10, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

- It seems to be misspelled. According to the article it should be "Pratapgarah" not "Pratapgarh." --Notmyhandle (talk) 22:13, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Minor Point
[edit]I saw it used the same way in the media and so it makes sense to see Wikipedia doing this but the use of stampede is not clear. I remember reading the first reports from the Times on this and it wasn't clear whether or not a stampede occurred, a real stampede with bulls, cows, etc. I didn't know if the writer of the Time's article wasn't sure themselves but it was left ambiguous. I would make a simple change from: "An unfinished[8] temple gate fell, which may have led to a panic among the crowd and to the stampede." to "An unfinished temple gate fell, which may have led to a panic among the crowd causing them to stampede." I don't like the original sentence to begin with and I think whoever wrote it was simply trying to incorporate how the newspapers wrote about it, but this makes it clear that it stampede is being used to describe people. The word is a word to describe animal behavior. People don't stampede but we describe them as stampeding in crazy and unfortunate circumstances like what happened in UP.
Like I said nothing major but has been a pet peeve of mine since the story broke.Phail Saph (talk) 08:27, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
