FA Cup "title"?
[edit]The mind boggles.....reading this season's page, why does "title" appear? This is not a title. I've edited out one but then there is more. Without wishing to upset anyone i will leave it to opinion but question the use of "title" as success is probably more appropriate surely? Babydoll9799 (talk) 17:25, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Why is it not a title? Please explain that to me. – PeeJay 18:26, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Title is synonymous with the league, the cup, would be fair to say success or wins. Certainly title would be a bit odd. An example of title would be "Manchester United won the title" (this year). Babydoll9799 (talk) 08:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- If I didn't know that Manchester United had won the league this year, though, I would be asking you "What title?" You can't say "the title" without saying which title either in the same sentence or nearby. I think saying "FA Cup title" is fine. – PeeJay 08:53, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Lampard celebration
[edit]Not sure whether it should be mentioned (at one time it would have gone into a trivia section, but such things are frowned upon on WP these days), but should Frank Lampard's goal celebration be commented on it the article? By running around the corner flag, he was paying tribute to his father, who makde exactly the same celebration after scoring in the semi-final in 1980 (also against Everton). Grutness...wha? 22:16, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Everton's formation
[edit]You've got Everton down as playing a 4-3-1-2 there, but if memory serves (and looking at the lineup) I'd suggest they were playing a 4-4-1-1 like so:
x------------------Howard
Hibbert-----Yobo------Lescott-----Baines
Osman------Neville----Fellaini----Pienaar
x---------------Cahill
x---------------------Saha
If I can figure out how to change the lineup display I'll edit it myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.7.201.42 (talk) 14:46, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- The line-up is based on the graphic that was shown by the broadcaster at the time (ITV, IIRC). At the minute, that is the only reliable source we have for the teams' formations. – PeeJay 15:13, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've just checked the Guardian's website, and the way they listed the teams corroborates the current way in which the Everton team is displayed. – PeeJay 15:34, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
