The result of the proposal was no consensus BUT all the names like 2005 Imola GP2 round should be redirected back to the alternative name (whether you think it the correct name or not) so that people searching for the alternatives arrive at pages like this one. I'll do this one as an example but please do all the others -- PBS (talk) 20:19, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2005 San Marino GP2 round2005 Imola GP2 round — San Marino as a name refers to the title of the Formula One race. The use of nationality names is essentially exclusive to Formula One. The GP2 race does not occur in San Marino, but in Italy. The circuit name is far more appropriate. Falcadore (talk) 10:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see the recognition of geographical borders as being original thought, but there you go. I also have a feeling that;s a touch of revisionism. Looking at period reports brings the following results...

and it is also reflective of Wikipedia consenses as achieved here --Falcadore (talk) 17:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
These sources are not official, first reference has been used name of location not name of round, on the Bridgestone's and Piccione's sites the rounds are named by the name of ciruit (Monaco, Nürburgring, Monza, etc). And don't forget that official name of round not always match location (San Marino Grand Prix, San Marino and Rimini's Coast motorcycle Grand Prix, European Grand Prix, Luxembourg Grand Prix, Pacific Grand Prix, 1982 Swiss Grand Prix). As the official website of the GP2 Series now uses Italian flags for the Imola circuit, the defence that it should remain 'San Marino GP2 round' is no longer valid. Would like the re-open this move, with the support now of the GP2 series site and have the article moved to:
2005 Imola GP2 Series round. --Falcadore (talk) 01:08, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
