Lead
[edit]- "The top two teams of the 1997–98 Football League Second Division league, Watford and Bristol City, gained automatic promotion to the First Division, while the teams placed from third to sixth place" - repetition of "teams"
- "The losing semi-finalists were Bristol Rovers and Fulham who had been defeated by Northampton Town and Grimsby Town respectively." - don't think town is needed in the names of the winning semi-finalists
- The term foul can be linked to the correct article on its sole mention
- Wikilink penalty to the relevant article only on the first mention
Route to the final
[edit]- "Grimsby Town finished the regular 1997–98 season in third place in the Second Division, the third tier of the English football league system, one place and one point ahead of Northampton Town." - repetition of "place"
- "and the first match of the two-legged tie took place at the Memorial Ground in Bristol on 10 May 1998." - no mention of this in The Independent source. Another one is needed specially to verify the accuracy of this fact
- The term fould can also be wikilinked to the relevant article on the first mention in the body
- Aggregate victory also needs to be wikilinked to the correct entry for non-Football readers on just the first mention of the term
- Aggregate is linked the previous sentence. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:10, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
- Substitution can also be wikilinked to the relevant entry
- "The second leg took place at Blundell Park near Grimsby four days later." - same query as the second point in this section
Background
[edit]- Wembley Stadium will need to be linked to Wembley Stadium (old)
- "In the games between the sides during the regular season, both teams won their home games," - repetition of "games"
Summary
[edit]- Is there genuinely so little information that there is only a single paragraph to describe every major event that happened during the match?
- It was a match of little interest. I'll see what more I can dig out but for GA, the key things are covered here.
- I found a little more in The Guardian which I appear to have overlooked, so I've added that in there too, including a quote about how dull the first half was! The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:33, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
- "Freestone's missed chance was Northampton's opportunity of the half." - what opportunity of the half?
Shall put the review on hold to allow the nominator to address or query any of the points raised here MWright96 (talk) 20:36, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- MWright96 cheers, all addressed bar the ones I've commented on above. Thanks so much for the review. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:10, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
