Requested move
[edit]Football World Cup 1998 (squads) → 1998 FIFA World Cup (squads) – following the consensus of naming the World Cup articles as FIFA World Cup in Wikipedia, and consistency of naming the major international football tournaments.

Italy squad
[edit]The numbers were giveItan following this scheme:
1 - First Goalkeeper (Francesco Toldo)* Angelo Peruzzi was the #1 Goalkeeper. However, he got injured some weeks before the WC. So, he was replaced by Toldo, who got #1. 12 - Second Goalkeeper (Gianluca Pagliuca) 22 - Third Goalkeeper (Gianluigi Buffon)
3 - Paolo Maldini (his favorite number) 10 - Alessandro Del Piero (his favorite number)
2 to 8 - Defenders in alphabetical order 9 to 17 - Midfielders in alphabetical order 18 to 21 - Forwards in alphabetical order
Chiesa got #20 since he replaced an injured player.
United States or USA?
[edit]The name and URL for the United States is not consistent in all the World Cups. In all others it is United States, so I have changed it to be consistent.Dmgerman 17:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Yugoslavia -only two keepers?
[edit]How did the Yugoslavia coach get away with only including two goalkeepers in his squad? Wasn't FIFA's three goalkeeper minimum in place then? I thought it was.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:23, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
Caps showing as N/A
[edit]For some squads, e.g. Brazil, Austria, the caps are showing as N/A - where can this information be sourced from? It must exist somewhere if there are values for most teams, but no references are given. I've tried FIFA and some sources from squad lists from other years, but had no joy.
