Pro-am ?

[edit]

The phrase "pro-am" has been removed and replaced from the article a couple of times. Looking back at some sources, The Newcastle Evening Chronicle, on 16 October 1962 (page 14), refers to the tournament as "the amateur-professional knock-out snooker handicap." The Aberdeen Evening Express for 22 December 1962 (page 2) has it in the television listings as "amateur v professional knock-out handicap". The Daily Mirror (10 November 1962, page 10) uses the phrase "a highlight of this amateur-professional match will be...". They may not use the specific phrase "pro-am" but I believe they provide further support for that term, alongside the sources in the article that verify it was a tournament that both professionals and amateurs competed in. Are there any reasons not to use the description "pro-am" in the article? Regards BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 22:15, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, Pro-Am is entirely accurate. Historically amateurs were given precedence over professionals in this regard, but modern usage is simply the reverse. wjematherplease leave a message... 22:51, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
