Everbright Securities International, formerly known as Sun Hung Kai Financial[1] and Everbright Sun Hung Kai, is a subsidiary of Everbright Securities Company Limited[2] that provides financial services for retail, corporate, and institutional clients. It was founded in 1969 by Fung King Hey, Kwok Tak Seng and Lee Shau Kee. The company operates under the Sun Hung Kai Financial brand and the SHK Direct and SHK Private sub-brands and has a presence in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China.

  • 1969 Established foundation in Hong Kong (formerly "Sun Hung Kai & Co.")
  • 1991 Becomes one of the first underwriters and approved overseas agents of the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, and in 1993 a B-share trading seat holder of the two exchanges
  • 1997 Being approved as a Foreign Share Broker and Lead Underwriter by the China Securities Regulatory Commission
  • 2000 Launches EBSI Direct as among the first to offer straight-through online order processing (formerly "SHK Direct")
  • 2002 Diversifies operations by establishing wealth management and alternative investment businesses
  • 2010 Forms a strategic alliance with Macquarie FX Investments Pty Limited to strengthen development of FX business
  • 2011 Launches EBSI Private offering customized wealth management services for high-net-worth clients; introduces the mobile trading application “eMO!”, empowering investors who prefer the DIY approach to wealth management
  • 2015 Becomes a member of China Everbright Group
  • 2016 Being the first batch of financial institutions qualified for RQFII business
  • 2017 Releases the “Everbright Sun Hung Kai” brand and an overseas business platform of Everbright Securities Company Limited; acquires North Square Blue Oak Limited, then renamed as Everbright Securities (U.K.) Company Limited, expanding its business to the European market
  • 2018 Receives Moody’s “Baa3” long-term issuer and “Prime-3” short-term issuer ratings with stable long-term rating outlook; establishes an international strategic partnership with Stifel Financial Corp. in the U.S. to further expand its international footprint into the Americas to fulfill clients’ needs for global consulting and capital markets services; introduces Asset Power Account (Asset Power), an exclusive wealth management service, to extend service spectrum to private banking
  • 2019 The U.K. subsidiary is named a U.K. cross-border conversion institution for global depositary receipts (GDRs) under Shanghai-London Stock Connect, a milestone in overseas business development
  • 2021 Becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Everbright Securities Co., Ltd., providing a full range of financial services in five major businesses including wealth management, corporate finance & capital markets, institutional business, asset management, and investment & financing
  • 2022 Launches the new brand “Everbright Securities International” and the wealth management brand “EBSI Wealth” in January, with a commitment to becoming an influential first-class wealth management brand
