Staunton Township (S12 T7N R6W) is located in Macoupin County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 5,795 and it contained 2,611 housing units.[2]

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 18.27 square miles (47.3 km2), of which 18.13 square miles (47.0 km2) (or 99.23%) is land and 0.14 square miles (0.36 km2) (or 0.77%) is water.[2]
