Siddharthnagar also known as Naugarh is a city and the district headquarters of Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] It is one of the five Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Siddharthnagar district, though the constituency has been renamed to Kapilvastu, and is near Lumbini, Nepal the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. It is north of Siddharthnagar railway station 20 kilometers from India.

Demographics

As of the 2011 India census the total population of Siddharthnagar city was 23,97,051. Males accounted for about 53% (12,11,347) and females 47% (11,85,704) of the total population.[3][4]

Transport

Siddharthnagar railway station is located on the way to Gorakhpur from Gonda. The city also has a bus station and is connected to Gorakhpur via National Highway 730 and also connected with Basti via National Highway 28.[citation needed]
