ASOS Rainbow Athletic Club (also known as Rainbow Athletic Club or simply Rainbow,[2][3] formerly NBP Rainbow)[4] is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal,[5] that competes in the Calcutta Premier Division and Calcutta Football League.[6][7][8]

In 2018, they competed in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of Indian football league system.

In 2020, the club was acquired by the Indian Conglomerate Aditya Group naming it ASOS RAINBOW AC.

History

The team was founded in 1956 as Baranagore Rainbow Club, then got renamed as NBP Rainbow AC. The team has their rivalry with East Bengal Club, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting or Peerless SC.

Rainbow participates in the Calcutta Football League premier divisions.

In 2019–20 season, Rainbow was managed by Jahar Das.[9] In 2020, the club entered into a partnership with Indian conglomerate Aditya Group. It was announced that the new entity will have former India international Debjit Ghosh as their technical director.[10]

In June 2023, IFA announced that they have merged both Premier Division A and B of the Calcutta Football League ahead of its 125th edition, in which Rainbow was placed in the group B.[11][12][13]

Stadium

Rainbow club plays most of their home matches at Amal Dutta Stadium, which is located in Dumdum, near Kolkata, North 24 Parganas.[14] The stadium has capacity of about 15,000 spectators.

ASOS RAINBOW AC plays majority for their games of CFL 2023 on this venue.
