Appearance
On June 8 1968, a special train carried the body of assassinated presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy from New York City to Washington, D.C.. Paul Fucso, a photographer for Look magazine, rode the train and captured around 2000 images of the thousands of people from many different sections of society who lined the tracks along the route to pay their last respects.
- A follow-on from my recent DYK suggestion. I came across these photos recently and I find them so striking and vivid, even though the use of slow Kodachrome film means many are blurred. The one I selected at least captures both the train (including the PRR logo on the side of the carriage) and the crowd along the track, although some of the others (such as this) are far more poignant.
