Paul H. Lysaker (February 15, 1960 - July 25, 2023) was an American clinical psychologist and Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, Indiana University School of Medicine. He is known for his work on developing and disseminating metacognitively oriented psychotherapy for individuals with psychosis.[1][2][3]

Paul H. Lysaker was the developer of Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy (MERIT),[4] a metacognitively oriented treatment for persons diagnosed with psychosis. In this treatment, the focus of conceptualization and target of intervention is metacognition. This letter construct has been defined by Paul H. Lysaker and other authors as the ability to understand one's own and others' mental states and use this knowledge to master the challenges of everyday life[5].
