Operation True Promise III

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Operation True Promise 3)

Operation True Promise III is a future planned Islamic Republic of Iran military operation. Iran is planning to launch “Operation True Promise 3” in response to October 2024 Israeli strikes on Iran that killed 5 Iranian soldiers and damaged military sites. The operation is expected to take place after the US election but before the inauguration of the new president in January 2025. Commander of IRGC General Hossein Salami has warned that the attack will be harsh and "unimaginable".[1] On 8 November 2024 IRGC test fired a long range missile possibly in preparation for the attack.[2] Hossein Taeb has said the operation hurts Israel and Americans' image, the way least expected.[3]

Background

[edit]

Operation True Promise II was launched by Iran on October 1, 2024, in response to Israeli aggression, with over 200 missiles targeting Israeli military and espionage bases. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander, Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, has confirmed that Operation True Promise III will indeed be carried out.[4] According to Iranian news, Arab diplomats have been briefed that the attack will not be limited to missile strikes unlike previous operations.[5][6] Khamenei has promised a crushing attack.[7][8] US military threatened Iranians not to use Iraqi soil to attack Israel.[9][10][11]
