Crowns vs shields
[edit]Not sure one size fits all will work here. I can see using the junction crowns in RJLs (i.e. with jct/jcon), and using the reassurance markers in route lists and infoboxes. I'm not entirely sure how this template works so I don't want to try and make a switch for when the module is called by different templates. - Floydian τ ¢ 22:01, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Guilty for making it all crowns. The easiest thing to do is to have a separate type for shields and one for crowns. There's a fair amount of customization we can do in
{{routelist row}}
if that's the route you wanted to go. –Fredddie™ 03:26, 2 February 2021 (UTC)- The crowns would make sense when the highway is referenced as a junction with the subject of the article, and the shields in every other case. As it stands at the moment, using {{jct}} produces shields while {{jcon}} produces crowns:
- I'm curious as to which subpage/module is processing jcon, because a switch could be fired for
|crown=yes
or similar, both templates synchronised, and an AWB run through the junction lists to add that parameter. The visibility of the shields at 21 pixels is also an issue, at least on my monitor. - Floydian τ ¢ 03:53, 2 February 2021 (UTC)- The 21px was hardcoded into Jct; I just fixed it so the shields are 19x30 now. –Fredddie™ 04:48, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, much better! Only remaining issue I can't figure out from going through a bunch of documentation is how to put the toll banner below the shield for ON.Toll - Floydian τ ¢ 18:35, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- That's going to take some work. Out of the box, using the toll plate as the shield parameter and the Ontario shield as the banner won't work. I've tried. –Fredddie™ 15:21, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- Probably easier just to use File:407Blue.svg, File:412Blue.svg, and File:418Blue.svg. I'll drop by IRC tonight/this weekend, and perhaps we can tweak it around and get the sizes right, since this subpage doesn't even appear to pay attention to the width parameter. Also getting sort issues with the 407 in the table at List of provincial highways in Ontario. - Floydian τ ¢ 18:25, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I am going to start a thread on Template talk:Jct to add some ideas to the wishlist. –Fredddie™ 19:03, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- I did some messing around in the sandbox today and fixed some things. Now, most Canadian shields are either 20px wide or 20px tall as you can see on Template:Jct/testcases/shield4. The big winner is the toll type that was just edited today. –Fredddie™ 02:36, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
