Marcello Hernández (born August 19, 1997)[1][2] is an American stand-up comedian. He has been a cast member of the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live since the show's 48th season in 2022.[3]

Early life

Hernández grew up in Miami, Florida, where he attended Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. He graduated from John Carroll University in 2019 with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Communication. In 2021, Marcello became the assistant soccer coach of Belen Jesuit Preparatory.[4] He is of Cuban descent on his mother's side and Dominican descent on his father's side.[5]

Career

Hernández did comedy and performed short-form pieces on social media channels, such as the weekly review show Only in Dade about his home of Miami, on TikTok.[6]

He moved to New York City in 2019 to pursue his stand-up career.[7] In 2022, he was selected for Just for Laughs New Face of Comedy.[8][9]

In 2022, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, becoming the show's first cast member from Generation Z.[10]

Personal life

Hernández is an avid baseball fan. He provided introductions at the 2024 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby and also starred in a Spanish-language ad for MLB the same year.
