Physiotherapist Aktaruzzaman Mia filed a case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court regarding the death of his son, Dr. Enam, on May 30 while undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital. Dr. Mahtab, a gastroenterologist at Labaid Hospital, was one of the three accused doctors. According to the allegations, Dr. Mahtab conducted an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedure on Dr. Enam after he developed complications following a surgery at Islami Bank Hospital. Dr. Mahtab admitted to treating Dr. Enam for hepatitis B and performing the ERCP with the patient's consent to avoid further surgery's high costs and risks. However, Dr. Enam's condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to BRB Hospital, where he passed away during an operation.
