Maksud Hossain (Bengali: মাকসুদ হোসেন) is a Bangladeshi director, writer, and producer known for his work in both short films and feature films. His film Saba got official selection in prestigious film festivals like Toronto International Film Festival, Red Sea International Film Festival[1] He got the Student Academy Awards for the documentary film Three Beauties.[2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Maksud Hossain was born and raised in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He later moved to the United States for his studies, where he developed a passion for filmmaking.[4] He studied in the United States at Purdue University and the University of California at Los Angeles. Since 2009, Hossain has been residing in Bangladesh.[5]
Career
[edit]Maksud Hossain began his career by directing over 200 television commercials for major clients. He gained recognition with his short documentary Three Beauties, which won the Student Academy Award. He is the founder of 465 Pictures, a film production company based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.[6]
Saba (2024), Hossain's debut feature film, explores the complex relationship between a mother and daughter. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received critical acclaim.[7] Raya's Wedding is his upcoming film.[8]

Personal life
[edit]Maksud Hossain is married to Trilora Khan, who is also a co-writer on some of his projects. They have collaborated on several films, including Saba.[9]
Awards and recognition
[edit]Maksud won Student Academy Award for Three Beauties. "Saba" has been selected for the Co-production Night at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 and the Film Bazaar India Co-production Market 2021 at International Film Festival of India.[10] His upcoming film Raya's Wedding got selected in the co-prodction market Film Bazaar in 2023.[11]
