IKEA is a multinational group of companies that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, appliances, and home accessories. As of 23 April 2024, there are 473 IKEA stores operating in 63 countries and 5 territories.[1]

6  Germany 1974 Eching[12] (near Munich) 54 IKEA's largest market. Berlin alone has four stores. The Berlin "Landsberger Allee" store is the second largest in Europe with 43,000 m2 (460,000 sq ft). The first store in East Germany opened in October 1990, within a month of the German reunification.
7  Australia 1975 Artarmon (Sydney) 10 The Perth and Adelaide IKEA stores were owned by Cebas Pty Ltd until February 2017 when they were acquired by the IKEA Group.[13]
8  Hong Kong 1975 Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui) 4 The first IKEA outlet in Hong Kong, then a British territory, opened on Chatham Road, Tsim Sha Tsui in early 1975.[14] All are franchises owned by DFI Retail Group. First IKEA in a Chinese-speaking territory.
9  Canada 1976 Dartmouth 14 The first IKEA store in North America opened in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1976 and closed in 1988,[15][16] though the company opened a new Dartmouth location in 2017.[17] As of 2023, there were 16 stores in six provinces, as well as numerous pickup-only collection points.[18]
10  Austria 1977 Vösendorf (near Vienna) 8 In 2021 IKEA opened its first eco-friendly store in Vienna at Wien Westbahnhof railway station. The store does not feature parking facilities and only sells products that can be carried home by public transport. Large furniture can be ordered at the store and will be delivered home with zero-emission vehicles.[19]
11  Singapore 1978 Bukit Timah 3 First store in Southeast Asia. Original store moved to Katong in 1984, then to Alexandra Road in Queenstown in 1995. A second store opened in November 2006 in Tampines. A third store opened at Jem on 29 April 2021.[20]
12  Netherlands 1978 Sliedrecht 13 Inter IKEA Systems' headquarters are located in the IKEA Concept Center in Delft. Groningen store is the third largest in Europe with 42,000 square metres (450,000 sq ft). Newest store opened in February 2015 in Zwolle.[21] The old store in Sliedrecht closed in 2006.[22]
13  Spain 1980 Las Palmas 30 There are 20 stores on mainland Spain and 10 stores in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. It include three small stores in Madrid and Pamplona and a pop-up store for accessories in Madrid.[23]
14  Iceland 1981 Garðabær 1 Originally, IKEA started its business in a loft above a grocery store in Reykjavík. Later, after having spent a decade in a large warehouse, it reopened (at around 20,000 m2 (220,000 sq ft) in Garðabær in October 2006).[24] IKEA's director in Iceland said that they want to open a store in Akureyri in the upcoming years,[25][26] but meanwhile that plan was shelved (and instead a limit put on shipping cost).[27]
15  France 1981 Bobigny (near Paris) 36 9 of 36 stores are in Paris urban area.
16  Saudi Arabia 1983 Jeddah 4 First IKEA in a Muslim-majority country; stores are located in the metropolitan areas of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran. The Riyadh and Jeddah stores have been completely rebuilt and relocated in recent years. The store in Dhahran opened in 2008. The second store in Jeddah opened in 2017. Two pick-up points also opened in two cities.
17  Belgium 1984 Zaventem and Ternat (near Brussels) 8 Stores in Anderlecht, Arlon, Ghent, Hasselt, Liège, Mons, Wilrijk and Zaventem. In 2008 the IKEA store in Ternat closed. In 2016, the stores in Hasselt and Mons opened, and in October of that year, IKEA bought a piece of land to open a second store in Antwerp.[28] Another new store will open near Kortrijk, but not anytime soon.
18  Kuwait 1984 Kuwait City 3 First IKEA store in Kuwait was opened in the industrial district of Shuwaikh in 1984 and transferred to a larger new facility at The Avenues Mall in early 2007.[29] In 2020 was opened a decorations store at 360 Mall.[30] Another decorations store was opened on 8 November 2021 in the new Assima Mall.[31] A new IKEA store was opened on 16th August 2023 in the South of the Kuwait City in the Warehouse Mall in South Sabahiya District of the State of Kuwait.
19  United States 1985 Plymouth Meeting (near Philadelphia) 52[32] (or 55 if Puerto Rico is included) The United States is IKEA's second largest market, after Germany, or possibly tied for first. The first IKEA in the U.S. was built on an outparcel space belonging to Plymouth Meeting Mall in the Philadelphia suburb of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania; this store moved to Conshohocken, Pennsylvania in 2003, where IKEA's US headquarters is also based. In 1992, IKEA acquired the California-based STØR chain, adding three of that chain's four locations to their US presence; that chain's Houston, Texas location, which operated under a franchise agreement, became one of only a few independently franchised IKEA locations in the world.[33]
20  United Kingdom 1987 Warrington, Cheshire 22 IKEA opened a 32,000 square metres (340,000 sq ft) store in Calcot, Reading, Berkshire on 14 July 2016 and opened in September 2017 in Sheffield. On the 10 May 2018, the UK's 21st store opened in Exeter.[34][35] Additionally the UK has two Order and Collect points; Norwich[36](which closed in 2021) and Aberdeen.[37] An IKEA planning studio was opened in London in 2018. On 4 February 2020, IKEA announced its first ever UK store closure of its Coventry city centre store due to consistent losses.[38] In 2022, IKEA opened its first high-street store at Livat Hammersmith, previously named Kings Mall.[39] In August 2022, IKEA in Tottenham, North London, was closed following "an extensive assessment of our presence in London in line with changing shopping behaviours".[40][41]
21  Italy 1989 Cinisello Balsamo (near Milan) 23 The largest store is located in Carugate, Milan, extending to 38,000 m2 (410,000 sq ft).
22  Hungary 1990 Budapest 3 There are three stores in Hungary, located in the Budapest urban area, two in the city and one in Budaörs.[42]
23  Poland 1990 Warsaw 11 Stores are located in Warsaw (two), Gdańsk, Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków, Poznań, Łódź, Bydgoszcz, Lublin, and Szczecin. Over 70 Click & Collect points are available across the country.[43]
24  Czech Republic 1991 Budějovická (Prague) 4 There are two IKEA stores in Prague and one concept store: one at Zličín and one at Černý Most; both Zličín and Černý most are located at the periphery of Prague. The concept store was located on Wenceslas square. The first original store at Budějovická - Prague 4 was abandoned in 1995. Outside of Prague there are two locations - in the country's second-largest city, Brno, and in Ostrava. There are three stores planned within six years (Plzeň, Hradec Králové and a third location in Prague). In 2018 a concept store was opened on the Wenceslas square in downtown Prague and was closed at the end of 2019.
25  Serbia 1991 Belgrade 1 The first IKEA store in present-day Serbia was opened in 1991, but was closed in 1992 due to UN sanctions over Yugoslavia.[44] IKEA returned after 25 years and officially opened its first store on August 10, 2017.[45] It was followed in 2022 by a 40,000 square metres (430,000 square feet) retail park in Belgrade, in addition to its store in Bubanj Potok. IKEA plans a second store in the Niš.[46] In Belgrade is the regional office for former Yugoslavia and Romania.
26  United Arab Emirates 1991 Dubai 4 There are four stores in the UAE, located in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain.[47] The first store opened in City Centre Deira in Dubai. The Dubai store later shifted to Festival Waterfront Centre. The IKEA store in Abu Dhabi was originally located at the Marina Mall. It has since shifted to Yas Island.[48] The Al Ain store is located near the camel souq and Bawadi Mall. The fourth store in Dubai is located in Festival Plaza shopping centre, located in Jebel Ali. Al-Futtaim is the franchise holder for IKEA in UAE, Egypt, and Qatar.
27  Slovakia 1992 Bratislava 1 Original store was closed upon the opening of a new store in the Avion Shopping Park. There are two more stores planned in Slovakia, in Košice and Žilina.
28  Taiwan 1994 Taipei 8 IKEA opened its first store in Taipei in 1994. There are currently 8 IKEA stores operating in various cities across Taiwan, namely: Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Chiayi, with Taipei and New Taipei having 2 stores each and other cities having 1 store each. The latest IKEA store to have opened in Taiwan is the Chiayi City Shop; sharing the same premises as RT-Mart in Chiayi on December 26, 2022. It is the first “IKEA shop-in-shop” store in Taiwan. As of today, the Taoyuan store is the largest of all 8 stores currently operating in Taiwan. The IKEA franchise in Taiwan was initially owned directly by Jardine Matheson, but it is currently owned indirectly by Jardine Matheson through DFI Retail Group.
29  Finland 1996 Espoo 5 Stores were opened in Vantaa in 2003, in Raisio in 2008, in Tampere in 2010 and Kuopio in 2011. The Tampere store is the biggest IKEA in Finland.
30  Malaysia 1996 Bandar Utama 4 Previously located inside 1 Utama, the first store was relocated to a standalone store in Mutiara Damansara, Selangor in 2003. The second store in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur was opened on November 19, 2015.[49][50] On November 15, 2017, a store was opened in Tebrau, Johor Bahru. Latest IKEA store in Batu Kawan, Penang opened on the March 14, 2019.[51][52]
31  China 1998 Shanghai 38[53] There are a total of 37 IKEA stores in mainland China, including 4 stores in Shanghai, 3 in Beijing (one in small format), 2 in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Tianjin and 23 in other cities across China.
32  Israel 2001 Netanya 7 IKEA operates in Israel through a franchise company called IKEA Israel. IKEA has five regular stores in Israel, located in Netanya, Beit Shemesh, Rishon LeZion, Kiryat Ata, and Beersheba.[54][55] There are also two stores that focus exclusively on kitchens called IKEA Kitchens in the Tel Aviv Port and Petah Tikva. There is one store planned to open in Ashdod.[56]
33  Greece 2001 Thessaloniki 8 The first store opened in Thessaloniki on October 24, 2001. IKEA subsequently opened four stores in Athens and one in Larissa Ioannina Chania and ect each.[57] Also three ''next generation'' stores, aka ''ikea city'' have opened in The Mall Athens (1,900 m2 (20,000 sq ft)), in Piraeus district of Athens (2,000 m2 (22,000 sq ft)) and Alexandroupolis (1,560 m2 (16,800 sq ft)).
34  Portugal 2004 Alfragide (near Lisbon) 5 Second store opened on July 31, 2007, in Matosinhos, with 36,000 square metres (390,000 sq ft),[58] and third store opened on 25 May 2010, in Frielas, Loures, the largest store on the Iberian Peninsula with 39,000 square metres (420,000 sq ft). The fourth store opened in Braga with 22,000 square metres (240,000 sq ft). The fifth and last IKEA store opened in 2018 in Loulé, being the first one in the Algarve.
35  Turkey 2005 Istanbul 7 There are three stores in Istanbul (Bayrampaşa, Kartal and Ümraniye), one store in İzmir (Bornova), one store in Bursa (Osmangazi), one store in Ankara (Mamak) and one store in Antalya (Kepez).
36  Romania 2007 Bucharest 4 26,000 square metres (280,000 sq ft) store opened on March 21, 2007, in the Băneasa retail park in Bucharest.[59] A second 37,000 square metres (400,000 sq ft) store was opened in Bucharest on June 24, 2019.[60] A third store opened in Timișoara on June 8, 2023.[61] Another stores are planned in Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova and Iași.[62]
37  Cyprus 2007 Strovolos (near Nicosia) 1 A 22,000 square metres (240,000 sq ft) store opened in September 2007.[63][64][65]
38  Ireland 2008 Ballymun (near Dublin) 2 The first IKEA store in the Republic of Ireland (and second on the island of Ireland) opened on July 27, 2009.[66] Ireland's first small format store, where customers can order and collect products opened in Carrickmines in the summer of 2016.[67]
39  Dominican Republic 2010 Santo Domingo 4 First IKEA in Latin America and the Caribbean. The first store opened on 17 February 2010 in Santo Domingo.[68] It is the first IKEA store in Latin America.[69]
40  Bulgaria 2011 Sofia 6 The first IKEA store with 30,000 square metres (320,000 sq ft) was opened in Bulgaria in the capital Sofia on September 20, 2011, by Greek company Fourlis.[70] In 2020 it was opened a medium concept store of 8,000 square metres (86,000 sq ft) in Delta Planet Mall in Varna.[71] In 2021 a small concept store of 1,200 square metres (13,000 sq ft) was opened in Mall of Sofia.[72] IKEA additionally runs two order and pick-up centers in Burgas and Plovdiv. The sixth store was opened in Veliko Tarnovo in November 2023.[73]
41  Thailand 2011 Bangkok 4 The first IKEA in Thailand opened its door on 3 November 2011, in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. It is expected to have 43,000 square metres (460,000 sq ft) of retail space as a part of the Mega Bangna Shopping Center.[74][75] On March 15, 2018, IKEA Thailand opened a second store located in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi as a part of the CentralPlaza WestGate shopping mall.[76] IKEA has also opened a store in the Mueang District of Phuket. It was opened on November 27, 2015, initially as a pick-up and order point, but was then later converted into a store.[77] In June 2022, IKEA Thailand announced a plan to open a fourth store (IKEA Sukhumvit) located in the heart of Bangkok on Sukhumvit Road on the third floor of the Emsphere mall; next to Benchasiri Park. The store is the first city-centre store in the region and opened on 1 December 2023.[78]
42  Macau 2012 Taipa 1 In 2012, Macau had its first IKEA merchandise pick up store in Avenida de Venceslau de Morais. In April 2016, the location was moved in Macau Tower. Macau's first IKEA opened on April 23, 2020, at Nova Grand Shopping Centre in Taipa.[79]
43  Lithuania 2013 Vilnius 4 The first IKEA store in the Baltics was opened on August 14, 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania, with 26,000 square metres (280,000 square feet).[80] Two order and collection points are located in Kaunas and Klaipėda. In 2023, a planning and ordering point was opened in Šiauliai.[81]
44  Puerto Rico 2013 Bayamón 3 IKEA has been present in Puerto Rico since 2013 with three order and pick-up centers in Bayamón, Ponce and Carolina. The first IKEA store in Puerto Rico was opened September 29, 2021 on the former site of Sears in proximity of Santa Rosa Mall in Bayamón.[82]
45  Egypt 2013 Cairo 3 The first IKEA store in Africa opened on November 26, 2013. The store is located in Cairo Festival City Mall, and it has 34,500 square meters (371,000 square feet).[83] A second store is located in Mall of Arabia in 6th of October City. A third pop-up store is opened only during summer in Sidi Abdel Rahman.[84][85]
46  Qatar 2013 Doha 1 The first IKEA in Qatar opened its door on March 11, 2013.[86] The store is located in Doha Festival City Mall.
47  Jordan 2014 Amman 1 The first IKEA in Jordan[87] opened its doors on 6 March 2014.[88]
48  Croatia 2014 Zagreb 1 The first IKEA in Croatia[89] opened on 21 August 2014 and with total area of 38,000 m2 (410,000 sq ft) is one of the five biggest in Europe and among 10 biggest IKEA stores in the world.[90]
49  Indonesia 2014 Tangerang (near Jakarta) 7 IKEA operates in Indonesia through a franchise agreement with Hero Supermarket, a listed subsidiary of DFI Retail Group. It opened its first Indonesian store on October 15, 2014, at Alam Sutera, Tangerang, located in the western suburbs of Greater Jakarta.[91]

On November 28, 2019, IKEA opened its second store in Sentul City, Bogor. The store was previously a Giant Hypermarket store, but converted.

On March 28, 2021, IKEA opened its third store in Kota Baru Parahyangan, Bandung, West Java; the first store outside of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Area.[92]

On September 16, 2021, a fourth IKEA store opened its doors in Jakarta Garden City housing estate in Cakung. It is the first store to be located in the Jakarta city proper.[93]

Following the converted IKEA Sentul branch, another 5 large-sized former Giant hypermarket stores will be converted into IKEA stores,[94] with the first store of such, also the fifth IKEA store in Indonesia, is located in Kuta, Bali. The store opened its doors on November 18, 2021; making it the first IKEA store in Indonesia to be located outside the main island of Java.[95]

On April 7, 2022, IKEA opened its sixth store, its first in Indonesia with a city store concept, at Mall Taman Anggrek in West Jakarta. Spans at 9,400 m2 (101,000 sq ft), it takes up two stories of the mall.[96] IKEA opened its seventh store in Indonesia (also its second city store) at Ciputra World Surabaya Mall in Surabaya, East Java on December 15, 2022; it is the third store located outside of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Area.[97]

50  South Korea 2014 Gwangmyeong 4 The world's second largest IKEA store at 59,000 m2 (640,000 sq ft)[5][98] opened in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, near the Gwangmyeong station on December 18, 2014.[99] The second store opened in Goyang on October 19, 2017, which is even larger at 164,000 square meters (1,770,000 square feet) in gross floor area, breaking the previous world record holder's 131,550 square meters (1,416,000 square feet). IKEA plans to have six stores in the country by 2020, four in the Seoul Capital Area, one in Daejeon and one in Busan.[100] The third store opened in Giheung-gu, Yongin on December 12, 2019.[101] The fourth store opened in Gijang County, Busan on February 13, 2020, making the first IKEA store located outside of the Seoul Capital Area.[102]
51  Morocco 2016 Casablanca 3 The first IKEA store in Morocco was opened on 11 February 2016 in the New city of Zenata [fr], located in outskirts of Casablanca.[103] A second store for decorations was opened on 28 July 2020 in Morocco Mall.[104] A third store opened in Tetouan, Northern Morocco.[105]
52  India 2018 Hyderabad 5 IKEA opened first store in India with 37,000 m2 (400,000 sq ft) in Hyderabad on 9 August 2018.[106] IKEA opened its second store in Navi Mumbai on 18 December 2020,[107] and its third outlet and first smaller format "city-store" in Worli, Mumbai on 9 December 2021.[108] IKEA plans to have 30 stores by 2028.[109][110] Ingka Centres, IKEA's mall's division, announced in December 2021 that it would open an additional two malls, anchored by IKEA stores, in Gurugram and Noida. Both malls are expected to open by 2025.[111] The 4th store was opened in Bangalore on 22 June 2022.[112] A 5th store was opened in R City Mall on 28 July 2022. It is the third store located in Mumbai.[113]
53  Latvia 2018 Riga 1 The first store in Latvia was opened on 30 August 2018 in Stopiņi near Riga.[114][115]
54  Bahrain 2018 Salmabad 1 IKEA has completed building its first store in Bahrain with 37,000 square meters (400,000 square feet) in floor area and opened to the public on 5 September 2018. It is regarded as the biggest store in the region.[116]
55  Estonia 2019 Tallinn 2 IKEA Estonia launched its online store as well as its first brick-and-mortar location, a limited showroom and pickup point, in the Lasnamäe district of Tallinn on 29 August 2019.[117] The first full-sized store located at Kurna village in Rae Parish (outside of Tallinn area) opened on 25 August 2022.[118]
56  Ukraine 2020 Kyiv 1 One 5,000 square meters (54,000 square feet) store at the Blockbuster Mall in Kyiv.[119] IKEA also has multiple pick-up points and the online store with delivery.[120]
57  Mexico 2020 Mexico City 2 2020: launch of online store that delivers to the Mexico City metropolitan area. First retail store opened in April, 2021; 23,000 square metres (250,000 sq ft) across 3 levels with entrances off all 3 floors of the new Encuentro Oceanía mall.[121]
58  Slovenia 2021 Ljubljana 1 First IKEA store in Slovenia was opened on February 25, 2021, next to BTC shopping city in Ljubljana.[122]
59  Philippines 2021 Pasay, Manila 1 The first IKEA store in the Philippines was opened on November 25, 2021. It is the largest IKEA store in the world; occupying 65,000 m2 (700,000 sq ft). The store is located at the SM Mall of Asia complex.[123] IKEA is also planning to expand to other cities in the Philippines such as Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo.[124]
60  Oman 2022 Muscat 1 The first IKEA store in Oman was opened in Muscat on June 19, 2022; in a space spanning 25,000 m2 (270,000 sq ft) over two levels. The store is located at the Oman Avenues Mall and also comprises a 394-seat restaurant and a Swedish food market.[125][126]
61  Chile 2022 Santiago 2 On May 17, 2018, Falabella holding announced a franchise agreement with IKEA to open stores in Chile, Peru and Colombia, rebranding Homy stores and opening new stores starting in Santiago.[127] On 10 August 2022, the first IKEA store in Chile has opened at Open Plaza Kennedy shopping center in Las Condes in Santiago, Chile. In addition to being the first IKEA store in Chile, it is also the first IKEA store to open in South America. On December 14, 2022, the second IKEA store in Chile was inaugurated in the Mall Plaza Oeste shopping center in Cerrillos in Santiago, Chile.[128]
62  Colombia 2023 Bogotá 3 The first IKEA store in Colombia opened in Bogotá on September 28, 2023.[129] The second store opened in Cali on May 8, 2024. Followed by a third store on Medellín, which opened on October 9, 2024.[130][131][132]

 Luxembourg 2027 Luxembourg City As of 2019, shoppers from Luxembourg can have their IKEA products shipped directly to their address from the nearest IKEA store in Arlon, Belgium.[135]
 Vietnam 2028 Ho Chi Minh City In October 2017, Inter IKEA CEO Torbjorn Loof said in an interview with Bloomberg News that there were plans for the company to expand into Vietnam with the next five years.[136][137]
 Brazil 2029 São Paulo IKEA announced in 2017 that it intended to expand its stores to São Paulo, Brazil. It was rumored to open in September 2024, however, as of now, there is no known opening date.

 Russia 2000 2022 Khimki (near Moscow) 18 Russia was the fourth market by revenue after Germany, the U.S. and Sweden. There were 3 IKEA stores in Moscow (Khimki, Teply Stan and Belaya Dacha), 2 stores in Saint Petersburg (Parnas and Dybenko), stores in Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Novaya Adygea (in Adygea near Krasnodar), Samara, Omsk and Ufa. The IKEA stores in Russia were in connection with MEGA malls developed by IKEA. 5-6 new openings were originally planned by 2020. On 3 March 2022, INGKA holdings (parent company of IKEA Russia) announced that IKEA would suspend operations in Russia and pause sourcing in the country as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[138] On 15 May 2022, IKEA announced the permanent closure of its shops in Russia. A Belarusian furniture retailer called "Swed House" (Belarusian: Шведский дом) opened in Moscow in April 2023, general director Mamedali Kasymov says they are replacing the IKEA stores in Russia.[139] On 28 September 2023, Gazprombank purchased the operations of all 14 MEGA shopping centers from IKEA.[140]
