Notable aftershocks
[edit]- The magnitude 7.5 aftershock on 6 February destroyed over 2,000 buildings in Elbistan[49] and 335 others in Afşin.[50] Some adobe houses also collapsed in Sivas Province,[51] and an apartment building in Elazığ collapsed.[52] It also caused further panic as far as Ordu Province.[53] Some buildings also received minor damage in Damascus, Syria.[54] In Bnei Brak, Israel, the earthquake also caused minor damage to Champion Motors Tower.[55]
- The magnitude 6.3 aftershock on 20 February left eight people dead,[56] and 562 injured.[57] Some buildings collapsed in Samandağ and Antakya, Turkey.[58][59] Five people died from panic-related causes,[60] and several buildings were destroyed in Aleppo and Tartus, Syria.[61] In Akkar Governorate, Lebanon, rockfalls occurred.[62]
- The magnitude 5.2 aftershock on 27 February caused about 30 buildings to collapse.[63] Two people died, and 140 others were injured.[64]
- The magnitude 5.5 aftershock on 25 July caused 63 injuries in Adana and Osmaniye Provinces.[65][66] One house was destroyed and 18 others were damaged in Kozan[67] and another was damaged by rockfalls in Sumbas.[68]
- The magnitude 5.3 aftershock on 10 August caused 23 injuries; one in Adıyaman and the rest in Malatya.[69] One building collapsed, and two others were heavily damaged.[70]
