King of Thieves (Agẹṣinkólé) is a 2022 Nigerian thriller film produced by Femi Adebayo and directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani.[2][3] It stars Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Toyin Abraham, Broda Shaggi, Adebowale "Debo" Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni, Lateef Adedimeji,Ibrahim Yekini (Itele D Icon) and Ibrahim Chatta.[4][5] The Epic Yoruba-language movie was produced by Femi Adebayo's Euphoria360 media and co-produced by the Niyi Akinmolayan's Anthill studios. The movie premiered on April 4, 2022. The star-studded event was held at the IMAX Cinemas, Lekki, Lagos which featured lots of trends and talk-points.[6] The movie hit Cinemas nationwide from April 8, 2022[7]

Synopsis

"King of Thieves" (Ògúndábède) tells the tale of the renowned town and prosperous kingdom of Ajeromi. Life in Ajeromi was thriving, with peace and prosperity reigning supreme. However, the tranquility of the kingdom was disrupted when Agesinkole, a formidable bandit and terrorist, arrived to unleash terror upon its people.

Determined to protect their peaceful way of life, the inhabitants of Ajeromi united and used all their available resources against the menace of Agesinkole. Their arsenal included skilled hunters, powerful witches, and accomplished wizards who combined their strengths and abilities to confront this common threat and restore peace and prosperity to their beloved land.[8]

Premiere

King of Thieves (Agesinkole) premiered on Sunday, April 4, 2022, at the IMAX Cinemas, Lekki, Lagos. The theme of the premiere was 'Epic and Dangerous' and lots of celebrities in attendance dressed in line with the theme.[10] The event was star-studded and saw a lot of celebrities and big names of the industry in attendance. Some of those in attendance are Tade Ogidan, Tunde Kelani, Iyabo Ojo, Antar Laniyan, Segun Arinze, Mercy Aigbe, Dayo Amusa, Eniola Ajao, Denrele Edun, Muyiwa Ademola and a host of others.[11] Popular media company, StarTimes, of which Femi Adebayo is an ambassador, hosted and congratulated him on the debut of his new movie in Cinemas. Screening by the press, StarTimes team, Nollywood industry icons, and movie critics took place at the Silverbird Cinemas, Ikeja City Mall.[12]
