Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary between 29 October and 4 November 1896. The result was a victory for the Liberal Party, which won 290 of the 413 seats. These elections involved some fatalities due to Prime Minister Dezső Bánffy's policies of obstructing political efforts at reform by non-Hungarian minorities. Protests during the elections were put down by police, leading to 32 persons killed.[1]
