in GETTING STARTED your first sentence is something about mark-up and "underlying page source code". So now I am lost on your first sentence. I read "pages" on Wiki. Now there is something "underlying" pages . . .which pages? I guess the pages I am reading. I need to know their "source code" . . . what the hell is a source code . . .???? Beats me . . . I am not a computer geek, just a simple ignorant graduate. Well, that's my feedback. . .thanks for listening, and of course, I GREATLY appreciate Wikipaedia.

I was reading about Ma Barker and her gang and noticed that a holdup and two kidnappings that occurred in my hometown were not listed among their crimes. Here is a reference to the crimes that occurred on January 5, 1932. My name is Barker, but we weren't related to Ma Barker and her gang. The crimes in my hometown were just an unhappy coincidence.
Thank you Steve Barker https://www.isanti-chisagocountystar.com/news/89-years-ago-bandits-plunder-cambridge/article_7c457c2a-510e-11eb-a4dc-5ba87fa3169b.html

- When I tried to write the summary of edits, I got into an infinite loop, i.e, it did not accept my changes. If there was a Save button, I could not see it as may have been obscured by the tutorial dialog (Firefox 92.0.1 64 bit with ABP on Windows). But overall, a great idea for newcomers!

[edit]- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- I wanted to make an edit to a page
- How long did you spend looking through it, and which parts did you read?
- About one hour to an hour and a half
- Did the tutorial cover the topics you were hoping to learn about?
- Not really...I couldn't learn how to make it possible to edit the opening sections of each article, as they seem to not have an 'edit' option listed, like the subsections

- Did it help make you feel more confident editing?

- I would like the page for 30 Hudson Yards to be corrected. In the opening section, it says that the Edge is the second highest outdoor viewing deck in the Western Hemisphere, after the CN Tower in Toronto, but the Edge's outdoor viewing deck is now officially the highest, surpassing the viewing deck of the CN tower by 9 feet.
These facts may be referenced to the official website of the Edge, as well as to these articles in the LA Times and Travel & Leisure
I would make the correction myself, but I cannot find an 'edit' option on the opening section, so I simply wish to alert someone to make the change. It may be possible that the CN Tower page must also be amended, but I have not looked at that page.
Thank you, and I hope this helps.

[edit]- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- pressed some buttons from edit.i am not tecky i just wanted to add a few lines to gavin lyall the books titles in red ie no wiki page -not to start a page but just explain they are about beginnings of oil exploration and deals in middle east oil in last days ottoman empire and 1ww and ff.i dont recall any special revelations just atmosphere and competition usa and uk over oil deals surveys etc any anyway saudi nationalised aramco and we're supposed to be trying renewables so whats the big deal leaving them out.they are really good books like all his others and well told good exciting adventure/thriller.kind regards
generally i think wiki does a good job.

- Any other comments?
- all i wanted to do was add info on 4-5 book titles in red (meaning no info in wiki on these books) in the main article.further info is especially topical because they deal with historical origins of usa and uk involvement in middle east oil-all v gentlemanly starts pre and after 1ww incl surveys to locate who gets first deal etc.i thought it odd that this very topical subject still today has been left blank.all the authors other thrillers -all very good- are fully described and explained, only the middle east oil ones not and usa library of congress also totally leaves them out.to quote 'private eye' i think we should be told.i have no special interest other than he's a good writer and tho historical his other more recent books also dated and the origins of uk and us involvement and tail end of turkish empire all very interesting still.i cant do synopsis tho i read all these books and esp enjoyed his recreation of early 20c spying and business deals round oil.is it still so sensitive it cant be mentioned by wiki? surely noFeedback from 206.190.229.135 (22 February 2022)

[edit]- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- Wikipedia Administrator Lady Liz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Liz) has approved my request and has sent a valuable list of internal Wikipedia pages for the training of new editors. One of the pages of that list is the 'Introduction' page.
- How long did you spend looking through it, and which parts did you read?
- I have chosen the option of showing all sections of the Introduction as a single page, then I have leisurely read the full introduction (every section), in the course of two days, interspersed with attending to other tasks.
- Did the tutorial cover the topics you were hoping to learn about?
- Undoubtedly yes, it is well written and complete as an introduction, with relevant internal links to more detailed information.
- Was it easy to understand?
- Certainly, the language is clear and the distribution logical. It hardly needs any improvement, in my view.
- Did it help make you feel more confident editing?
- I have already edited some other wikis, whether sister projects of the Wikimedia Foundation such as Wikivoyage, or non-Wikimedia wikis such as Wikitravel, Metapedia, Fascipedia and Dixiepedia (this one closed in late 2009, the others are active as of March 2023).
- How can we make it better?
- It is already excellent as it is now. Some other editors may have suggestions, but at this point I have none.
- Any other comments?
- Yes, regarding style. I am a polyglot fluent in various languages, but when I write in English I normally use traditional British Standard, except in specific contexts (such as scientific or technical information) in which I use an accepted international standard. I hope that my linguistic norms shall not conflict with those of Wikipedia or with the usage of other contributors.
Thanks for the fine work that You are doing, Gentlemen, and go ahead with it. Receive a Strong Confederate Salute. Cssdixieland (talk) 15:04, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

- I just wanted to send a picture for your article on the Stroh Violin. It's from a 1928 silent movie called The Racket. If you give me an email address, I'll send it to you because I can't figure out your editing system. Catmom52
- @Catmom: Sorry that you found it hard to understand. To upload a photo of the Stroh Violin (or anything else), you can click on "Upload file" in the menu on the left. That will take you to this page, which guides you through the upload process. Feel free to ask at the Teahouse if you have any trouble. Thanks for being willing to contribute! [edit]- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- Was looking for information on Erymanthus, and found there was nothing on the mountains in Arcadia where Hercules killed the boar. I wanted to add it but wasn't going to bother because it's too difficult for me. Then I saw a notice about this new way of wysiwyg editing. Very exciting!
- How long did you spend looking through it, and which parts did you read?
- 20 minutes. The intro page in full w video, then to the formatting pages.
- Did the tutorial cover the topics you were hoping to learn about?
- Oh yes. The video was great!
- Was it easy to understand?
- It was, and I am not confident about these things.
- Did it help make you feel more confident editing?
- HUGE difference! The old way was not that hard, but I never learned it.
- How can we make it better?
- Great question - right now am glad you've made it so easy to edit! My specialty is in some areas of Greek & Latin lit & philos, & often I find incomplete information. Just to add or correct a small detail makes a difference, but until now it's been too much a hassle for an inept computer operator like me.Claraevallensis (talk) 01:27, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Any other comments?
- Thanks. Most important is that I feel confident now that if I don't know how to do something, it will not be difficult to find out how to do it. I've always been a fan of wikipedia. A lot of people are snooty about it, but I have found good information quickly.

[edit]- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- From the LEARN TO EDIT link on the home page.
- How long did you spend looking through it, and which parts did you read?
- About 2 hours.
Sandbox GET STARTED - visual editor - editing, referencing. "A single page guide to contributing" Help: your first article
- Did the tutorial cover the topics you were hoping to learn about?
- yes, eventually.
- Was it easy to understand?
- The "Learn to edit" section contains a huge amount of guidance, advice, policies etc. Individual sections are helpful but it can feel like a labyrinth. My suggestion is that the whole "Learn to edit" section is summarised as a FLOWCHART guiding the student through the stages from editing existing articles to creating a new one.
- Did it help make you feel more confident editing?
- Yes, eventually.
- How can we make it better?
- As described above: a FLOWCHART to guide you through the process. Each step in the chart would be linked to relevant guidance and examples.
- Any other comments?
- The Sandbox is a good place to start experimenting but I was put off by the box marked Publish. You aren't publishing at this stage - in fact on another page it says don't use the Sandbox for drafting an article. SAVE would make more sense.
- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- Search engine
- How long did you spend looking through it, and which parts did you read?
- hours.
- Did the tutorial cover the topics you were hoping to learn about?
- no.
- Was it easy to understand?
- not at all, it was horrible, with conflicting information complex and not easy to follow.
- Did it help make you feel more confident editing?
- not at all. i gave up because of the poor support / tutorial
- How can we make it better?
- Less convoluted navigation, correct info. helpful tutorials (they aren't) better support.
- Any other comments?
- this is a horrible, over complex experience.

[edit]- How did you come across the tutorial series?
- Trying to find guidance on how to add ‘See Also’ sections or adding content to such pages.
- How long did you spend looking through it, and which parts did you read?
- The main page on my iPhone. I have bookmarked it to aid looking at it on a PC.
- Did the tutorial cover the topics you were hoping to learn about?
- A little. I wanted more specific info on handling major sections like see also.
I would like a guide on how Wikimedia pages are structured ( just looking at them) prior to guidance and detail on updating specific sections and sub sections.
- Was it easy to understand?
- moderately.
- Did it help make you feel more confident editing?
- Not much. Will need to revisit on a PC.
- How can we make it better?
- Add a guide to the structure of typical Wikipedia pages. First, an illustration of a bare minimum page, then variations illustrating various aspects of what pages contain and, what they are called and then links to editing those entities.
- Any other comments?
- I’m glad I found this page as a regular Wikipedia user, but rather timid and new editor. I have mostly used talk pages till now.
I got confused by the section at the end of this quiz. About signing my posts on talk pages.

I read some articles that they only have a traditional Chinese for the selection of the language. I have recommendation that for all articles they shall have two options - Simple Chinese and Traditional Chinese for the selection of the language.
