The shot of GeelongPort was taken from a helicopter in retricted airspace by a professional photographer at considerable expense - and then made available to me via our network of employees. So there's no way any member of the public could get the same shot of that specific port's location without transgressing local airspace restrictions - drone or chopper or otherwise
- The cost of obtaining an image is not that relevant - the question is "Is it possible to obtain a free image?" as per WP:NFCC#1 - Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose Ronhjones (Talk) 23:08, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- As stated User:Ronhjones there is no way to get that shot of the port without getting permission from the relevant port authority to use the airspace - and I am not aware of any up to date images apart from the one I provided. Not sure what else I can do here.Belmop (talk) 22:51, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- The reviewing admin will have to decide. Have you asked the copyright holder if they will release it as a free image? Ronhjones (Talk) 23:33, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- This is replaceable by a picture which isn't taken from the air. If you take a picture from a ship instead of the air, no one needs to use any restricted airspace. Someone was able to take the photos currently used in the article Port of Geelong, so obviously it is possible to take replacement photos. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:24, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- I know I won't win this discussion but I beg to differ - no free image is availabel that shows this part of the Port of Geelong - Corio Quay, including the GeelongPort head office in the right background, which is what I was trying to show. other free images only show the entirety of the port precinct or other aspects - not representative of the GeelongPort operation - but more of the whole precinct with several stakeholder companies. Over to you and thanks for the rigour. Belmop (talk) 01:01, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- There is no sourced critical discussion about a head office, so per WP:NFCC#8 there's no need to show any pictures of any such office. Besides, see WP:NFC#UUI §6: since there's already an article about the port, it's enough to link to the article about the port (which already contains free photos) – there's no need to include non-free images in this article. --Stefan2 (talk) 11:53, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
