  • There are now two images of Nikitin with fair use licences and rationales. This one represents the safe days of his 1940s soloist career, when his stage appearance was not affected by his severe squint, which could be hidden (by turning the head until eyes aligned) in photos like this. Also during the war, he was not yet so badly affected by peer jealousy, which became noticeable and dangerous in peacetime after 1945. But the squint made it impossible to continue as a soloist, with the advent of TV and filming sessions for the Ensemble. He returned to a choral position in due course. So this heyday image, and the other image with the slight squint (now hardly visible because it has been made smaller for copyright reasons) should both be kept to represent the tough conditions for a fine performer in the Soviet years. If you must keep only one image, keep this one,as it represents his heyday. Storye book (talk) 16:56, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
