Appearance
The substrate in this electron micrograph has been enhanced to emphasize it. What for? The one on the website listed has not had this done. I think the micrograph should illustrate Varroa destructor not poor SEM colorization techniques.
- The colorization was done by the EMU and is used to help show where one creature begins and one ends. I'm not sure why you think the colorization is poor. It's not lifelike, but it's not trying to be. — BRIAN0918 • 2007-11-30 16:10Z
- The support is the problem, not the specimens. The support artificially attracts the eye to it because it has been colorized to emphasize the pits in the carbon tape. I've seen the online image colorized elsewhere, a cropped version, on the website, without this artifact of high emphasis on the supporting medium which adds no information to the image.
