Hi, in this map, a fabricated and politically-motivated term has been used for the Persian Gulf, in the parenthesis. The map does not fit Wikipedia rules, which is using internationally recognized geographical terms, approved by the United Nations. I think this map should be removed and a warning should be mailed to the uploader.--Khafesho (talk) 14:40, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- The map creator used the term Arabian Gulf in brackets. I think your attitude is a bit strong and you need to assume some good faith. Whilst I agree that Persian Gulf is certainly the more globally used term for that body of water, Arabian Gulf is widely used by countries in that region (including I presume the UAE). I'm not aware of a rule that suggests the UN is the final authority on what Wikipedia calls geographical items - common usage is surely the test. It's probably preferable to let people know you're going to make changes and invite comment. Again I agree with the change in this case but think possibly you need to pull back on the rhetoric.
