I speculate that this image was photoshopped.
Specifically, the horizon -- where the water meets the sky.
In my experience, a casual observer standing on the shore will suppose that the horizon is indeed the water meeting the sky. But even to a casual observer, a second look reveals the land on the other side of the lake. That is the niagara escarpment that rises at the edge of the lake and which flanks the mouth of the Niagara river where it enters lake ontario.
Since the land is visible even from the ground, from this elevated view, it would be perfectly visible. But somehow in this "photo" it just isn't there. Photoshop?
