How to update the map
[edit]In order to simplify the process of updating this map, a tool has been created to do most of the work for you. Instructions on its use follow.
Step 1. Make sure the table is updated
[edit]The tool utilizes the data in the table at Statewide opinion polling for the Republican Party presidential primaries, 2016 to generate the map. Prior to generating a new version of the map, make sure that the data in the table has been correctly updated.
Step 2. Run the tool
[edit]The tool can be run by accessing the external page at [1].
Step 3. Download the map from the tool
[edit]The map should display on the external page after a moment of processing. If the map does not appear, you may need to make sure you are using an updated browser. Once the page loads, you can download a copy of the map (on most computers by right-clicking the map and selecting "Save image as").
Step 4. Upload the revised map to Wikimedia Commons
[edit]Navigate to the file's description page on Wikimedia Commons [2], find the "Upload a new version of this file" link on that page, and follow the instructions to upload the new version of the map.
Step 5. Update the legends
[edit]Copy the text in the Legend Wikitext text box on the tool. This contains the code needed to update the legend for the table. Paste that code into the appropriate place.
