The rigors of spaceflight produce a necessity for robust and heavy-duty hardware. Soyuz is a great example of this. Some people think cars or aircraft are beautiful machines, but I think that spacecraft are the most beautiful technology man has ever made. Have you ever seen a rocket launch? If you haven't, you should. It's very incredible! All the millions of components working together to produce the magnificent thrust needed to escape our atmospheric prison. Awesome.
