There is a factual error in the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Shot.tower.bristol.arp.jpg. It states that the Floating Harbour in Bristol was dug through the central part of the city. This is incorrect. Bristol grew up along the banks of the River Avon and the New Cut was dug south of the city to become the new path of the river. The Floating Harbour follows the original path of the river and was created to allow larger ships to dock without being affected by the Avon's 40 foot tidal range.
